Birthdays Suck

If I were to put out a collection of all these strips, it would be called "Epic Tales of the Mundane: The First Four Years".

Rolls right off the tongue, right?

Kennedy's Birthday!

A six-panel comic strip really can't encompass everything that happened within that 18 hr. period (yes, I said "18 hours"!), but I had to draw about it. If you'd like to read a couple of paragraphs about the experience, you can check out Shannon's blog. That being said, I don't think words OR pictures could ever do it justice!

Also, expect this blog to include lots of photos of Kennedy from now on(well, as soon as I upload some more of 'em to my computer)!

Comparisons

This was drawn throughout the time Shannon was in the earliest stages of labor, before we went to the hospital Saturday afternoon. I was drawing more as a distraction from hearing her be in pain than any need to record the event, but this strip ended up foreshadowing a lot of what I would be dealing with later in the birth process. Regardless, everything eventually worked out, and us new parents are only slightly traumatized!

I intend on drawing a page about the about the whole birth story, but it might take me a couple days to find the time to get that taken care of, what with having a newborn and all. Until then, just be satisfied knowing that both Shannon and our daughter, Kennedy, are doing very well.

Here's a couple pics...

A birthday with Batman!

Shannon and I attended a birthday party for one of our friends' kids at 'Chucky Cheese' today. I wanted to draw him a birthday card, but I couldn't finish it before we had to go. Regardless, I came home and finished it up afterward. "E" for effort, right?

Subtle Flirtation

After I said that in the last panel, I laughed hysterically, and Shannon just kinda shrugged. She knows no one is a bigger fan of my humor than myself.

And, here's yet another sketchcard, this one starring Mystery Science Theater 3000's 'Tom Servo'.

Stranger than Fiction

In related news, it was 5 years ago today that, at my birthday party, I first attempted to flirt with the girl who would eventually become my wife!

Aborted Project

Somehow or another, I was "in-between" bands for several years. During that time, I wrote a set of acoustic songs on the guitar, and ended up playing a handful of shows as a solo act. I also did a number of home studio recordings of those songs, and planned on releasing them DIY, on CDRs and along with some photocopied album artwork. I also wanted to draw out a CD booklet with some comic strips pertaining to the songs (each of the comics would share a title with one of the songs on the album, and have content related to the theme).

But, somewhere along the way, I lost interest in this idea, and the couple of strips i drew for the project languished in my sketchbook. Anyways, here they are, colorized and everything.

27th B-Day

Seriously, what the fuck?!? At least wait to make that kind of comment the day AFTER your kid's birthday, right?

Work Humor

Its been a while since I've gotten around to doing a strip and posting it here, but there's been alot of stuff happening lately; My cat was sick, my Grandma is sick, my Mom came down to visit and be with my sick Grandma, I've been working on other people's comics, recording 'folk' music on my computer, etc., etc. And, now I'm gonna be away from here again!

Today, Shannon and me are picking up a rental car, driving to Riverside and staying the night there, and then, Friday, we'll be in Reno, watching the "Scared of Chaka" reunion (as well as a performance by the 'Bananas')! Okay, I'm out.
