The Sad, Sad Truth

Y'know, it's strips like this that I sometimes question posting, now that I know my family, and Shannon's family, read them from time to time. But, I think it's a good joke, so... whatever.

The British Call it a "Holiday"

Yep, I'm back to trying to draw strips on my morning commute, 'cause I don't always have time to do it at home. Normally when I do this, I just do my pencils, and ink it when I get home that night ( or, because I sometimes work on strips during my lunch break at work, I'll just touch it up once I'm back at home), and it makes me feel like I'm being more artistically productive than I really am, or have the time to try and be.

"The more you know...!"

Bicycle

We took our bike into the shop last week to get a tune up ( I changed the tube on the back tire the last time it had a leak, and managed to screw up the gears when I put the wheel back on), and now it rides super smooth... and I am way too stoked about it!

She knows me well

We're at less than 2 months until Shannon's due date, and its pretty amazing. When I press on her belly, I can actually feel how the baby is positioned, and sometimes, she (the baby) will kick, or punch, back in response to the prodding. Shannon says she reacts to loud noises as well, but I haven't tried screaming into her stomach, as of yet.

Manic?

Good dude, but ya gotta admit... that's kinda a weird thing to say. Of course, I'll be happy to eat my words if and when he shows up to work with a utilitarian, 'Star Trek'-esque device that translates Klingon to English!

The Rent in Fantasy Land is Steep

Yeah, I know, it seems kinda far fetched when you consider the fact that I have very little real art training, but its my dream, so back off!

All Grown Up

If you wanna listen to what made me bawl, just listen the 3rd act ("Potus Operandi") of the This American Life episode titled '2010'. But, I guess if you aren't pregnant and or don't have a wife who is, you'll just shrug your shoulders and call me a pussy.

Besides being part of this strip's dialog, 'All Grown Up' is also a song by FYP, which was my favorite band when I was in high school. The song isn't on the myspace account, but here they are, regardless.

The Formula

This is the routine that keeps me sane. Obsessively spending time locked in a room, chained to a drawing board would drive some people up the wall, but sometimes its my only escape from my anxieties and general neurosis. This is my weekend, my days off, and my punk rock.

Square One

It seems like the tiniest of windfalls I recieve are an affront to the universe, and directly results in some sort of cosmic balancing act, one which usually takes the form of a bill that almost mirrors the sum of the cash I've either come upon or saved. Dammit.

After Work Grump

Sometimes, it takes at least a couple of hours before I can decompress from work. It's not that my job is really stressful or anything, but being anywhere for 40 hrs or more a week kind of drives me crazy.

Luckily, Shannon brushes off my bad moods pretty easily.

The Big News!

I drew this comic on July 17, when we first found out that Shannon was pregnant, and had to wait until now to post it. Man, that was a crazy day!

Bad News Rising

Here's another one of those 'on-the-go', sketchy comics, drawn while in the theater Thursday night. Y'know, I bought this sketchbook so I could do strips while I was out on the town or whatnot, but I don't use it that often because I generally don't go anywhere besides work.

Sorry, Neil Conan

I really do like "Talk of the Nation", but y'know, the subject matter is sometimes hit-and-miss for me. I'll tell you, though, the first podcast I listen to each week is "Tom vs. the Flash", because its hilarious.

Oh yeah, I just realized that its spelled N-E-A-L Conan, not the way I wrote it in the strip. Oh well, just another thing I'll have to correct for the print version.
