Also, while you're waiting for me to draw my next strip, be sure to follow the link below, and then download and listen to all the music from my old band, John Denver's Last Flight, for free! You can also visit the Facebook FanPage, and look old pics 'n stuff.
The episode actually premiered in Britain sometime around the beginning of the month, but premiered on BBC America last night. I could have watched it on the internet (and a few of the subsequent episodes that have aired since then), but I really wanted to watch it on my Mother-in-Law's big ass, HD television, and enjoy it. I'm also pretty proud of myself for managing to stay away from any of the big spoilers, especially considering I follow a 'Doctor Who' blog ( I scrolled past anything written about the new series, whenever I came across it).
I drew this strip yesterday, but wasn't able to post it until right now. So, you're thinking, "Did you watch the episode? What did you think of it?" Well, watching TV with an infant child means that if you're lucky enough to have a DVR system, you utilize it, pausing every time she's crying, or needs a diaper change, etc. So, as of this morning, I've only watched (maybe) 1/3 of the episode... but, so far, so good!
PS This is the second time I have accidentally made a strip with a title that I've already used (in a previous strip), but in my defense, I only named this one the 'the 11th Hour' because that's the name of the first episode of the 5th "Doctor Who" season... so, get off my back!
I toyed with the idea of the last panel saying, "... out of your mother's uterus...", but ultimately, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to use the word 'VAG' in a comic.
Shannon's due date is tomorrow, and the special guest, Kennedy, has yet to make an appearance. However, Shannon has started to have lots of "practice" contractions and cramping; But, the real show hasn't started yet.
Of course, that could change at any SECOND... or not, who knows?
First of all, I got up super early so I could check my email, eat breakfast and drink coffee, and still get to work before I normally would. I rode my bike to the train platform, sat down, and waited for about 15 minutes. I assumed that I'd just missed the train, and since they run every 20min. on Sunday, it would be at my stop again shortly. Then this crazy dude showed up, and delivered the monologue detailed in today's strip. Initially, I'm thought, "Great, I'm going to be killed by a serial killer. Who'da thought that's the way I'd go out?!?"
Eventually, the psychotic bastard calmed down a little, and took a seat next to me. "Awesome," I silently commented to myself. "This situation is awesomely-horrible." He asked me for a cigarette, and I roll one, hoping to placate him. I listened as he recounted tales of the various people that screwed him over in jail, and how he was fully capable of beating them to death. I even nervously laughed when he made inappropriate jokes about raping and killing people (not necessarily in that order).
To make a long story short, I eventually won him over, and he seemed to lose interest in talking about various assaults and killings. Instead, he opted to tell me about how he was angry that he was made fun of by Oprah Winfrey and Bonnie Hunt on their talk shows, and how he felt this was "...fucked up". 30 minutes into our very one-sided conversation, he deemed me worthy of not stabbing, and instead offered me such praise as, "You have kind soul," and thought that I was capable of "...loving animals." No longer did I need to contemplate whether or not I should just smash him in the nose with my travel mug, and race away on my bike. He then excused himself, riding off into the rising sun, and I stopped myself from shitting the enormous brick which was nearing the seat of my pants.
I usually draw two strips, longwise, on a piece of 8x11 bristol board, but I measured the height of the panels for yesterday's strip wrong. Instead of making a really tiny strip (or just wasting the paper) for today, I drew the above cartoon, which would make a pretty neat little bookmark.
