Crossover Event

I swear to you, I'm not trying to make my daughter into a Tomboy or anything (not that that would be a problem for me); She's just taking an interest in the stuff I'm into, which just so happens to include some toys I've accumulated over the years, and floppy books with colorful pictures. And the fact that I watch  cartoons on a fairly regular basis is an easy hobby for her to relate to, as well.

In unrelated matters, I'm not a huge fan of Superman, but it's an obviously iconic character, and I don't remember ever really trying to draw him before. So, I gave it a shot...

I don't listen to as many podcasts as I did back when I worked at the glass shop, but one of the few I've kept up with is The Ink Panthers Show, which is hosted by the cartoonists Mike Dawson and Alex Robinson. I recently did a title card for one of their episodes (they haven't used it as of yet)...;

Lastly, I finally finished the black and white art for the "BroLoaf" 7" I was working on, and will be picking up my copy at the release show tonight.

Oh yeah, read RECORD HEAT every Monday (cross-promotion, yesssss)!

Winning?

Actually, I didn't even pay for my table (thanks, Shawn!), and I really wasn't expecting to sell giant shitloads of minicomics to people that were there to see Robert Kirkman or Rob Liefield, or just to get good deals on comics.  But, it's funnier if I bitch about stuff, right?

Meanwhile, here's some other stuff:

This is a drawing I did as a color study for an acrylic painting in my Color Theory class last semester, and ultimately abandoned (and did this instead). I do kinda like it on it's own, though.

And, here's a couple new sketchcards and I drew before the con, and then inked and colored 'em with color pencils.

And finally, a full page pinup of  Eric Esquivel's "Blackest Terror" character! I might do some more shading and stuff like that if I decide to put this in my portfolio later, but y'know, whatever.

Okay, I'm spent.

Comstupider

I happened to be going through one of my sketchbooks for school today, and came across the penciled page for this strip, which I'd somehow forgotten about. I've actually been done with the class for a couple of weeks, now.

At the last second, before the UPC 'zine thing up in Phoenix, I decided to go ahead and run off a few copies of "Epic Tales..."#8 since I already had the material put together. I only ended up printing 10 copies because, only a day or so earlier, I'd just printed a bunch of issues of #7 and was running low on cash.So, I'm out of #8 right now, but I'll have some more soon enough.
And finally, here's a couple of sketchcards I've made recently.

A birthday with Batman!

Shannon and I attended a birthday party for one of our friends' kids at 'Chucky Cheese' today. I wanted to draw him a birthday card, but I couldn't finish it before we had to go. Regardless, I came home and finished it up afterward. "E" for effort, right?

AZ Bus System Sucks

Today's comic was mostly drawn at the bus stop, directly after this incident. It was pretty sketchy-looking, so I thought the gray tones would compliment it better than color... but laziness probably has more to do with it than artistry. The title is taken from my favorite bus stop graffiti, in which the tagger scrawled, "AZ Bus System Sucks, Worst in the Us, aside from Ohio". on the sidewalk.

Hey, look, it's one of Brad's crappy sketchcards;

Also, you can now read texts about my boring life!

    Comic Shop Talk

    It's been a couple days since I posted a new strip, but I did manage to finish up my 8 page 'Crimson Cloak' story for the "Meanwhile Collective" anthology (you see a preview of that here).

    oh, This conversation took place last Saturday, so that goes to show you the excitement I've had through the course of this week (please add sarcasm to previous sentence). Alright, that's it.

    Sorry that my picture of you doesn't really look like you, Joe; I suck.

    Still Awkward, After all these Years

    All kidding aside, I really like the new "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" cartoon that's airing on Cartoon Network (I don't have cable right now, so I have to watch it on youtube!). I mean, I've always liked seeing the dark, justice driven Batman that we've had since Frank Miller debuted 'The Dark Knight Returns', but its nice to have a program that gives us a Caped Crusader that's not such a prick!

    While I'm on the Frank Miller & Batman subject, I read some of 'All-Star Batman and Robin' while I was at Barnes and Noble yesterday, and I have to say, I fucking hate it. I've thrown whatever trust I put in that writer right out the window.

    Theology

    I haven't posted anything for awhile, so I thought I'd do the new
    strip in color! Also, here's an image of the new vinyl stickers I
    received last week!
